To be clear I agree multiple APs would work better, but it isn't something I can reasonably do. The problem I have with the multiple APs is to be effective and IMO worth much more than say a tri-band router they would have to be placed in different parts of the house which would require running some wiring, drilling holes, etc and at that point I might as well just run wiring to every room. Speed tests showed a jump of 100% toggling it on/off. This is what that client machine is using to connect: Perhaps this is just a client-side benefit? Two computers in particular.Īs to beamforming, I'm not an expert on radio signals and engineering, however enabling it client-side has shown a dramatic increase with the speeds I get on a computer located furthest away from the AP. I do have devices that support 4x MiMo yes. If you ABSOLUTELY need more performance the AC HD is a better choice just be aware that it's a 4x4 device so you won't benefit unless you have one of these (or similar) bolted onto your desktop Most of the time the websites you access will be slower than your internet, and if you aren't doing massive backups over the network you'll have 'good enough' performance by and large. These are ballpark figures, take them with a grain of salt. I imagine a single AC pro would likely be good for 350-500mbps via wifi in a good chunk of your house for 3x3 devices(Macbook pro) and 200-300mbps for 2x2 devices (Samsung galaxy s7, most laptops) and 100-150mbps for 1x1 devices (most phones). Adding more access points would likely do more harm than good (hassles with wifi hand off and/or interference).įor some reason I'm used to giving recommendations to people on here with 3 story houses.

It's in basically the worst imaginable configuration (for now).Ī single AC Pro, which is well positioned, should be adequate. The AC lite is on the floor with wooden furniture on 3/4 sides. I have an AC lite that's able to get up to 60mbps from the far end of a 2000 sq ft home. Ignore the suggestions for multiple APs I didn't read your post clearly enough. For a 750ft unit I'd just get a single AC pro.
